Beerded Ladies

water + hops + malt + yeast + blog

This website is devoted to craft beer reviews, sudsy events, brewery tourism, stunning beertography, bad puns, offbeat beer pairings, dispatches from behind the bar and general beverage snobbery where we can apply terms like "biscuity" and talk about hop profiles.

Drink Local: NYC Beer and Brewing History Panel Discussion at Covenhoven

Beer -- drinking it, brewing it and selling it -- has played a major role in the development of our fair city. Grab a pint and pull up a chair as this panel of beer experts explore NYC's rich brewing history, from the defining waves of European immigration through Prohibition and into today's slow food movement, painting a picture of a tenacious, deeply rooted and well satiated industry.

Ticket includes a generous sampling of draft beer and tasty snacks provided by Covenhoven, Brooklyn's newest bottle shop & tap room slated to officially open in March, 2014.

Panelists:

  • Joshua M. Bernstein, author of "The Complete Beer Course: Bootcamp for Beer Geeks."
  • David Naczycz, owner of Urban Oyster, a provider of NYC beer and brewing tours.
  • Sam Richardson, owner of Other Half Brewing, a craft brewery in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
  • Ben Wiley, co-owner of Brooklyn beer bars Bar Great Harry, Mission Dolores, The Owl Farm & Glorietta Baldy.
  • Moderated by Meredith Heil, writer and founder of local beer blog, BeerdedLadies.com.
